REMINDER! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED USAI CLEAN UP DAY SATURDAY MAY 9, 2025 - BEGINNING AT 9:30 A.M
Please join us for the annual clean-up day at the pool. To register, please FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW, or email Thomas DiStefano (thomas@smilinglobster.com) by Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Please join us for clean-up day at the pool--a day of hard work and satisfaction, as we get ready for 2025! This year we will not expect most volunteers to work a full day. We will be taking on the major pool clean out along with many of the usual tasks. We are grateful for youth and teen assistance, but suggest that members not bring very young children to the grounds this year.

Please sign in and out on arrival and departure. Please remember to bring work gloves and hand tools and label them with your name. Trimmers, rakes, wheelbarrows, are always needed.

REGISTRATION/LUNCH/REFRESHMENTS

To register, fill out the form below or send an email to thomas@smilinglobster.com and indicate the number in your group, your bond number, and the time you expect to work, and if you will be having lunch. We will have subs or sandwiches and include vegetarian options (cheese). We need a headcount for lunch by Thursday May 7th .

Coffee will be available in the morning and we will set up water and lemonade stations mid- morning. If you prefer to skip lunch or have other food preferences, please bring something to eat or drink.

- Sweeping the deck/concrete area around the pool
- Moving tables and large items from storage to the picnic grounds
- Spreading mulch in the picnic area (reserve some for other garden beds)
- Moving lawn chairs and other stored items to the pool deck
- Begin scrubbing the chairs and the picnic tables noting those that need repair and moving them to the designated area
- Cleaning out grills and setting up with the grates
- General removal of smaller branches that have fallen (great project for younger kids)
- Trimming vines, shrubs - Power wash bath house, showers, etc.
-Prep flower beds and planting (if plants are on site) We have lots of things to be picked up from the grounds, twigs, etc. which is a perfect job for children/youth who cannot do heavy lifting. They can also help pruners and trimmers by being their runners to unload trimming in the ravine. As always, our kids need to stay on our grounds.

HEAVY CLEAN OUT OF THE POOL

Most of the day--10 passes per household
Marty Perzan , VP of the Board oversees this task along with Member Keith Shangle.

This job requires strong agile people mostly adults removing debris from the pool bottom. If you were one of the super volunteers who did this last year, we want you back! Wear waterproof boots, non-slip if possible, work gloves, etc.

We will schedule other tasks during May or early June—including wood furniture repair and painting. If you are not available on the 9th , there will be another time to help us prepare for the opening.
